VDS UEL Headers from Philippines

Nov 03, 2014 - 4:15 AM - by JMx86
Hi guys, i'm new here and would like to seek advise regarding my first mod. I'm leaning towards buying a UEL headers for the boxer rumble, but also on a tight budget.. I've been searching for popular brands, but needless to say, they are still over my budget...

While searching, I cam across this brand named "VDS". Have you ever heard of this specific brand? Any thoughts regarding it? I've seen their webpage in Facebook (www.facebook.com/vdsperformanceparts). Dyno charts posted on their page show that one of their customers able to hit 181whp without tune (which is great! how much more if with tune, right?)

I would like to know if any of you tried their product or at least has any thoughts about them.. really curious.. or maybe you guys have any other brands to recommend.. Thanks!

DIY Brake Fluid Flush - DOT3 to DOT4

Sep 25, 2014 - 3:10 PM - by Kavanagh
More notes for myself to reference later and maybe someone else will find them useful if they can find them at all using this crappy search function...

Brake Flush:

As per normal, if you touch your own car with any tool, it's on you to know what you're doing. Please get comfortable with the process by watching youtube videos or whatever. They don't even need to be about the FRS BRZ GT86.
It took just over 500 ml of brake fluid to completely flush out the DOT 3 factory fill. I probably could have done it with just under 500 ml if I knew exactly what I was doing, and will plan on that next time, especially since I won't be flushing out DOT3, but just replacing old fluid with new fluid.

I swapped over to Motul RBF 600 DOT 4 fluid since we cooked our stock fluid at the track. I should have done this ages ago, but was honestly just a bit lazy.

I even did the flush in a semi lazy way - I didn't take the wheels off, I just put the car up on stands and did it all from under the car with a vacuum pump like this one we use on our motorcycles:

Vacuum_Pump.jpg

To do this with the pump, I did the following after the car was in the air:

Open the brake reservoir and take out the little plastic filter screen under the cap. Clean it, make it pretty.

Stick the suction end of the pump line in there through the little hole near the front of the reservoir so you can get the hose down into the fluid. Don't jam anything too hard, there's a... [Read More]

Driveway Labs V1 Diffuser and FT-86 Speedfactory/Velox Motorsports splitter.

Sep 25, 2014 - 11:22 AM - by Kwaziekeller
Just a few pics of some aero additions I've made to my FR-S. Both are quite functional and CFD data exists to back up their claims. The installs are pretty easy, and straight forward. The results are pretty impressive. I'm still on stock Primacy HP's, but understeer on turn in is practically gone. The rear stays planted powering out of a corner as well. Highway stability is improved as well as gas mileage. Most noticeable is that the car doesn't "walk" around in ruts, shake due to semi wash/wake, and it's hydroplane resistance in the rain is increased significantly. Also, the steering feels slightly more weighted and purposeful. All of these are things noticeable in daily driving as well as spirited runs.
