2011 High Voltage Scion tC Release Series 7

High Voltage tC Release Series 7
Scion just came out with this modded out (able to purchase at the showrooms) Release Series (RS) Scion tC. A little pricier than the regular tC but worth the money. Personally i love the color as evident in my Avatar. All Scions have RS versions, which will translate into RS versions for the FR-S.

I don't care for the color, but does it have any power adders?

It does not have any power adders. 205 horsepower on all stock tCs (D-sport dyno, forgot which issue).
The RS version comes extra with: Different color, push button smart key start, RS yellow stitched seats, individual badging, honeycomb grill & 4 piece body kit, 18 TRD wheels, different radio, trunk cover etc...

Unless I'm misunderstand what you said, stock tC's don't come with 205hp, they come with 180. I honestly don't see anything special about this version. I actually like the look of the metallic blue one w/ rear lip wing my friend just got much better. Now, if they upped the hp to 205, it would be worth a little bit of extra money, but otherwise... meh.

    DSPORT Magazine Issue #096B

Sorry for the poor photo quality. I used my camera phone.

    Dynoed: 211 hp @ 6,000 RPM

Well I don't know what DSPORT is, or how they get their calculations, but I thought we were clear that we were referring to manufacturer's specifications when you said "stock". Not what some mag got from their dyno results. I'm plenty aware that often times cars are overrated, or more often underrated from the factory. But when you start saying "stock" and quoting numbers from a single magazine article, as "official specs", you are going to get responses like that.

What I also find interesting is that my friend's car definitely does NOT feel like it has 210hp, and the performance numbers from the tC don't point to it either. On top of that, there are other videos of stock tC's putting down 165whp on a dynojet (known to be generous), which puts it at most 190-195, but likely lower. So I'll stick with my previous statement of 180.

Thanks for explaining what you meant though. Wasn't my intention before to really start a debate on the matter. Was just curious where you got the number from.

The Tc to me has always been a car that should have been rwd. Like the Hyundai tiburon, Cobalt SS and volks GTI, IMO it would have had a lot more appeal. I hope the FR-S does what the Genesis did for the Tiburon (despite what hyundai says).

What did the Genesis do for the Tiburon? Wasn't the Tibby cancelled?

I firmly believe the Genesis is the true evolution of the Tiburon. Hyundai swears up and down it is not, but if you look at the two cars you will see what I mean.

There is no way the TC has 211 hp. The civic Si is rated at 197 hp and is quicker than the TC. Maybe not by leaps and bounds, but it is definitely noticeably quicker.

It is possible that the engine is under rated. I don't really like the tC, the last gen celica was far sportier. If they would have made the tC much lighter and better looking, IMO, it would be better. The engine and drivetrain in the tC's is much stouter than the zz cars. If only they had improve the celica with a newer engine and gave it the lexus dual injection, they could have easily broke 200 hp and had a much faster car. Hell, the 3sge beams was a better fit in the celica, IMO. IIRC, the 6th gen did get that engine in special models for 98-99, but the chassis was too heavy for it. The 7th gens were much lighter, but lacked the stoutness.

Fugly ass car. Kinda boxy. Looks like a newer 2-door version of a Dodge Avenger.

It probably looks a lot better in person. Still not my cup of tea, though.

If it was RWD I might consider it, the interior IMO has too much going on.

Considering this is "high voltage" it should either have a hybrid electric motor or a turbo. This is just a clothe overlay and button away from a basic model. When is toyota going to bring some real badges back that mean something? GT4, ALL-Trac, GT-S, etc... weak sauce!

i really like the tC, i wanted to buy the new one, that is untill i found out insurance for 18yr olds cost more than the actual car's finance cost over 60months...
during my test drive i got to push it a bit harder than i could in other cars, and i would say 211hp is possible, it never felt slow, and i usually drive my dad's 2011 ram 1500 so i can really notice slow cars.

My test drive in a 2005 Scion tC RS 1.0 in Absolutely Red and 5-speeds was phenomenal. Throaty exhaust, easy shifting, fun shifting. Great little car with a great body style. I want a 4-dr., I know most of you want a Coupe, the tC is a Coupe and the FR-S will be a Coupe, too.

Is either Scion even thinking any more about 4-door for their FR-S? I'll still want one if so, not if they ain't.

Huh? This is an enthusiast site for the toyobaru coupe.
Not sure where the confusion lies, as this was never intended to be a 4 door car...
If it were a 4 door I would just buy an Impreza. (and if it needed to be Rwd it could be done)

I know that Road & Track Magazine speculates that a 2014 Lexus IS 4 door will be based off the FR-S platform. (Old news)

^I like the current and older IS's, but that is not near as good looking as the previous models.

If the IS is based on it, it's possible that their will be awd or 4wd. The current models have it, but it's also possible that the awd will be with a different engine that won't be interchangeable. At least this gives the "give me awd" people hope their is some kind of awd model. Just might have to fork out more dough for a lexus.

@ej25ti: Don't worry, your IS300 will come back to you as a collectors car when your about 70 yrs old.

Double panel sunroof standard. Girl hanging out on your roof not standard.

Hand stitched leather is a good option to check off. Reclining (lazy boy couch) rear seats standard.

If you need to free up the dead weight for track duty just buy some Carbon Fiber Sunroof Plugs.

^I was gonna say. You can buy carbon T-tops for the mr2, so it's not so heavy. Still isn't as rigid. I don't think the sunroof really takes away any rigidity like T-tops do though.

Well there will always be you hardcore people who want an engine attached to a chassis with a seat in it.

Then there is the rest of us.
