Hello, I'm brand new to this forum and am hoping to see what your thoughts were on different cars if you were in my shoes. I also am realizing that a lot of folks are in the same position as me while we all wait patiently-NOT! for the new FR-S or 216a so it will be interesting to see what comes of it.
I currently drive a 2007 Subaru Legacy GT limited 5 Spd and am looking for a change. I originally bought this car for work as I needed a nice commuter but could also get aggressive while maintaining a subtle look. I have now changed jobs and have no need for a sedan so am looking for a more lightweight aggressive coupe. Here's what I'm looking for:
1) Somewhat reliable for 15 mile commute to work everyday.
2) More than the Legacy's 250hp, able to run the 1/4 mile in the 13's OR have the potential to do so.
3) Able to handle track days occasionally.
4) 2 door coupe, would prefer small back seat but not necessary.
5) I'm open to new or used.
6) No American or Korean cars
7) Manual tranny
I have about 25K to spend including whatever I get for the Legacy.
You may instantly think... well of course wait until the FR-S/216a comes out but my concern is 1) I would never drive a Scion, no matter how hard they try I know Toyota/Scion is going to throw a ball of cheese at this thing to appeal to the mass audience. 2) If Subaru comes out with their own 216a, I highly doubt that a turbo version will come to the US.
I hate to put a damper on this Forum but I'm thinking there's a lot of us out there in the same position and the Toyobaru is losing steam with me - maybe others.
Either way, here are my options and cars I've been looking at:
- 02-05 BMW M3
- 05-08 Nissan 350Z
- 93-98 Mazda RX-7 - I would keep the Legacy as a DD
- 94-98 Nissan 240SX - again - keep the legacy as DD
- 06 Acura RSX
- 00-08 Honda S2000
- 08-10 Mazdaspeed 3
- 1993-1998 Toyota Supra/Lexus SC300 5spd - I know this one is a long shot
I would love to see some votes and other suggestions
Thanks
