Piece of shit and it got horrible gas mileage. I'm stationed in Germany and even tho ripping it on the autobahn is fun seeing the gas hand move and not being able to go more than 210 miles on a tank gets old fast. I don't have as much fun with the civic but its still enjoyable. Funny thing is that I sold my supercharged 06 si to get the evo and sold the evo to get the 2010 4 door si.

how long did you have the evo for. When you buy an evo, you should know ahead of time that the gas mileage is going to be horrible...

For the first comment.... Your not the best reader i take it. I already explained why.

Second comment.... I had it for 16 months. I had no clue i was coming to germany. I didnt want to come here. Gas isn't to big of a deal in the states but when prices are higher in Europe and most places to live aren't very close it doesn't mesh well. Not to mention it was a 5 speed so going with traffic on the autobahn at 81 mph even without the exhaust is tiring. 4k rpms for hours when redline is 7k gets bad fast.

Post some pics of the Si. I would love to drive the autobahn at least once in my life. Aren't some areas of it not as fast as you want to go?

I just got back from Europe (incl Germany) a month and a half ago. The autobahn is just their name for any freeway basically. From what I saw, some parts of it are restricted to 100kph or 130kph, near cities, and some areas are unrestricted usually along the countryside.

Some areas are unlimited but mainly in the country. Most of the time the speed limit is 130k which is 81. For the most part people go 130 but cops don't pull people over. They use camera to ticket people and for the most part they aren't on the autobahn. People go much faster than the speed limit normally. But people have sense. It very very expensive to get a drivers license and takes months. They never ride in the fast lane. It's strictly for passing so you can fly.

Autobahn is their word for interstate.

Now I'll be driving a silver 2002 elantra GT hatch back, automatic... fml. The goal is to pay off student loans for a year or two until I can afford to buy something really nice.

i accidentally posted that without reading, the second comment is after i read your post. I figured that you could understand it and I did not see the necessity of erasing my previous comment. also, it would be nice to have a 6th gear while freeway driving but my evo gets around 26 mpg on the freeway... the difference between 3k and 4k rpms isn that much as far as mpg is concerned.. so long as you are not constantly accelerating and decelerating you should have been fine...

    I didn't know the Evo came with a 5-spd?

As far as the difference between 3k and 4k rpms and mpg, I have to disagree with you. After swapping transmissions causing my hwy cruising rpm to jump up just 500 rpm, my mpg dropped about 3-4 mpg hwy. The difference between 3-4k (basically the difference between driving 60 or 80mph) would be even more drastic. What I would give to have a 6th gear for cruising.

Agreed. The car was horrible on the interstate. I always use cc and it still was bad. The gsr evo came with a 5 speed manual and the mr came with the dual clutch 6 speed.

I miss having that as well. Ironically when I had it, I also had a 6th gear.

um, maybe thats just a perceived difference then because the way the gearing works, the should be no difference in gas mileage... its simple physics. When you go faster, you get much less engine resistance but it equals out with wind resistance and drag... the gearing honestly has very, very little to do with it. The only reason why I would like a 6th gear is because of the drone... my AMS single tip exhaust is really nice but @ highway speeds its entirely audible. I guess that is the trade off, better hp and sound for annoying daily driving...

Perceived? No, that was a recorded difference, noted many times. As for gearing having little to do with it... Showdown: testing RPM vs. MPG at a fixed speed - MetroMPG.com

Obviously there are other factors, but gearing plays a very big role in gas mileage. You really think if you drove around on the highway in 3rd or 4th gear that it wouldn't totally ruin your mpg? Gearing directly effects engine speed, engine speed directly effects gas mileage. If your cylinders are taking in fuel 1,000 times more per minute at any given vehicle speed, that fuel has to come from somewhere...

Hell yea gearing plays a difference. Its the difference between 70mph at 4k vs 2k.

2012 Audi S4 Premium Plus 6MT: Absolutely, unequivocally, without a doubt the best car I've ever driven, period. Does everything so well it's disgusting - it's the STi/Evo for the wealthy boy racer, and the engine is definitely underrated at 333hp. Too bad I'm leasing it through my dealership and can't mod it; a STaSIS tune and exhaust would bump it to 410hp!

And my first love, a 1987 Toyota MR2 hardtop with a 20v Blacktop 4AGE engine swap and lotsa other mods:

2013 Subaru BRZ Limited 6MT - on order
    2012 Audi S4 6MT - company lease, baby!
    1987 Toyota MR2 - 20v blacktop screamer
