What was your first car? And what made you a car person?

Title asks it all. What helped you get into cars?

I'm embarrased to say but the first fast and the furious movie got me into cars. It turned me into a full fledged ricer, NFS introduced me to the Nissan Skyline, which introduced me to the 240sx, which introduced me to Zilvia.net. Zilvia beat the ricer out of me and made me into a true car person.

First car was a 1988 Nissan Maxima
first vehicle was a 1989 Jeep Cherokee

My first car was a 1947 Ford convertible. I bought it in 1952. The Barris California Custom was probably the single thing that had the biggest impact on me. I went with the shackles, lead, Carson top, etc. I always want something that is a little different from the crowd which is o.k.

Saw the '67 Chevy Hotrod muscle coupe at the age of 7, it's where it all started. On 1991, I saw two cars that I got my penis grew giant like black guy, it was the premiere of the SC300 and Supra. Now, I got Supra and my roommate got SC300.

    History rundown:

    - '86 Mazda RX7 FC3S s4 N/A 5spd (white) (drifted & sold)
    - '86 Mazda RX7 FC3S s4 N/A 5spd (Skyblue) (projected & sold)
    - '88 Mazda RX7 FC3S s4 N/A 5spd (black) (project & sold)
    2000 - '91 Mazda RX7 FC3S s5 N/a 5spd (black) (sold)
    - '92 Mazda RX7 FC3S s5 N/A 5spd (white) (drifted & jacked)
2002 - '02 Honda Accord LX sedan auto (currently)
2007 - '06 Kawaskai Ninja 636 Limited Edition only 31miles (currently and for sale)
    2008 - '95 Toyota Supra N/A 5spd (currently & never sell)
    Future list either:
    '12 Toyota FT86
    '02 Nissan Silvia S15 (JDM)
'98 Toyota MR2 Beamz (convertiable) (JDM)
'07 and up Toyota Tundra TRD sport sedan(rear 2nd doors with side door handle version)
    '90 and up Nissan 300ZX

Going to be hard to get that, seeing as production ended in 2002.

My first car was a 2000 Celica GT wich I still have and drive. I would say Fast and the Furious got me into cars but since I wasnt even like 15 when that movie came out...I cant. It was when I got my first car and was able to drive that really made me want to have a bad ass car just for my image sake. (and no I didnt mod my Celica with a cheapy spoiler and flames and parts stickers I didnt own lol its all stock and stayed that way for my manhoods sake)
I recently just purchased a 95 TT Supra so the image is awesome lol but as I got older I became more focused on the way my car operates as opposed to how it looks.

Saved from 16 to 19 to get the beast.

1st: 1987 Toyota Tercel 2dr coupe (187K miles - too many things to fix / started to burn some oil)
2nd: 1994 Toyota Camry V6 (194K miles - too many things to fix / engine still fine burnt no oil)
3rd: 2005 Toyota Corrola (rid for the STI)
    4th: 2008 Subaru STI

(The STI really got me into cars, but it is my only sports car - i'm a late bloomer. At the time when I was looking, Toyota had nothing for sport at all. Celica/Surpa/MR2 no longer made. I really didn't want to focus on something used, but considered it and knew the FT86 would come out eventually but could not wait. Had to choose between an STI or EVO, it was difficult. Oddly to many, I got the STI for my commute and it just became much more fun with each day)

Just realized that I didn't answer my own question.

My first "new" car was a 1985 Chrysler Laser XE w/turbo. Managed not to get into too much trouble.

    Other vehicles:

    1993 Eagle Talon
1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee (still have)
    2009 BMW 328xi

Yeah, I guess spending many many years in the military really did removed the real need for a car...

    Quick history.

1993-4, I bought my first car and honestly not knowing what the fuck it was other than it looked cool. It happened to be a 1989 240sx that I paid for with my own hard earned cash. Not being able to drive (15) Id wash it weekly and pull it out on the street/parkway a bazillion times. It started immediately as I was already the avid BMX biker with a hacked to hell bike built from custom parts, knowledge applied right over to cars and it went from there. Did the computer career, did the car career, now back in computer career and plan to stay

After that.... NINE 240sx's later, here I am. Sick of waiting for Nissan.

    Oh, there was a 93 300zx, 84 318i, 98 Impreza 2.5RS, 89 Toyota Camry All-Trac, 00 WRX Sedan, 00 WRX Wagon. Possibly a few missing too.

My first car was a '65 Ford Mustang. Loved the car. I now have a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS in Rally Red color, with foglights, sunroof, Rockford Fosgate 650-watt stereo, leather-wrapped gearknob and steering wheel, wraparound bodykit and automatic CVT transmission.

Japanese cars are all I'm interested in now. I have only bought one, that is my current car, a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS. Pretty cool rig. So this 2012 Toyota FT-86 is going to need to be a pretty good car in order to be one that I would want to trade my Lancer in for. And Dale White Motors of Elko, NV, is going to need to give me fair market value for the Lancer GTS or there will be no FT-86 for me.

But if Toyota prices the low end FR-S in at around $21,000 with the 6-speed manual tranny standard and just bare bones stereo, power w's, l's, and m's, I'm going to get a red one. I am just stoked about this new Celica from Toyota. I think they're gonna name it Celica, I see some of the old Celica's in it. Stoked ta the max about it!

I think I may be in the running for the most pathetic first car I got into. Aside from my ver first vehicle, which was a 1994 isuzu pickup, the first car that ever got me into sports cars was my 1992 GEO STORM. I also sadly watched movies like F&F.

    Mods done to the storm:
-Auto zone plastic cold air intake
-cheap 100 dollar pace maker header that we spent 6 hours rigging/welding into place
-some back yard shop home made 2.5" exhaust
    -head unit
-10" visonic sub powered with a shitty overheating amp

It was truely hilarious. I only had it for a year, but I loved that car.

    Since then:
2003 Nissan Sentra SeR Spec V (slow but very fun)
^^ Not so tastefully modded. Full bolt on's with too many cosmetics
2009 Honda Civic Si Coupe (slow but a great daily driver)
^^ Very tastefully modded. Intake, HFP suspension, HFP wheels, tint

I've still never owned a 'fast car'. I have always had a WRX fetish, but I never pulled the trigger to buy one. I never go more than 3rd gear WOT in my civic. That already puts me at 80+ mph and I don't think there is a need to go any faster than that, since I don't track or street race. I don't really have a need for a high horse power car, as long as the handling is there.

    First cars?

Lets see I start out driving a Toyota Camry 02'..

    Then:
    86' Mercury Capri
96' Pontiac Gran Prix GTP - was a spaceship, even had heads up display
    07' Hyundai Tiburon v6 - dd

My older brother has always been into cars just like my father. We love to wrench on the boat and play with performance. We just recently got rid of an 04' Mitsubishi Evo RS that had speed density, e85, stock block, cams, FP Red turbo, exhaust which was mrunning 30 psi making close to 475 at the wheels. And my father owned a 40th Anniversary Roush Mustang stage 2, chipped.

With all that influence I've grown to appreciate all cars and love performance. Oh and yea, respect the law. :] All my cars have been auto's but when I have the FT-86 it will be manual.

My daily driver has an intake, full hid conversion, and Korean 'Tuscani' badges simply because I hate Hyundai's drunken H.

Hah! I agree. I'm a fan of modern day Hyundai, but they do have a cheap looking logo.

The first car that was in my name was a two-door, 87-89-ish Chevy Blazer, in two-tone Red/Black. It had the cool wider, plastic fenders and red interior. Only thing I did to it was put in a system. Back in the day these things were the shit around here.
