Toyota GT 86/Scion FR-S
Subaru BRZ
I prefer the frs front end, and the subaru wing. I also wouldn't mind a push button start. That being said, I think the frs will come in about $2,000 cheaper than the brz letting me put in my catback, downpipes, headder and exhaust due to scions no haggle vs dealer markup on the brz. I recall someone posting that subaru won't even do friends and family on the first gen brz.
The scion ultramarine color is growing on me vs subie blue.
I'm going for the Scion and the First mod the car will get is Yoda badges...
Why is it that the toyota and scion are both under 1 option and the Subaru is by itself? Seems like a skewed poll to me...
86 for sure
Just went to the Subaru dealership yesterday and put down my deposit on a BRZ. I'm 7th on their list.
The Toyota for sure because it has the heritage. This was a Toyota idea and because of Akio Toyoda it is happening. Toyota also has the motorsport heritage, 3 WRC championships, a Formula 1 team, Le Mans teams, a World endurance team, and GT cars. It also shares blood with the Toyota sports 800 with its boxer motor, the AE86, the Supra, the MR2, the Celica GT4, The ISF, The LFA and of course the 2000GT..... I know Subaru has also won 3 WRC championships but that is all.... and the Impreza STI as cool as it is.... is still a 4 door mom car the has been dressed up.... And Subaru has seemed to have lost its passion for motorsports while Toyota is building its up.... "Love" is great and all for hippies and soccer moms, but I think the bad styling and lame performance out of the latest Subaru line up has me spending my money on the Toyota.... And I think the car industry has seen this as well as it seems to be shouting nothing but praises to Toyota and Tada-san
Subaru has more racing heritage than that; give them some credit. Subies get raced all over the world in all different types of racing. Of course Toyota has way more, no denying that, but they're also a much bigger company. Scion on the other hand doesn't have anything besides Chris Rado and his Time Attack tC and Ken Gushi's RWD drift tC... kinda lame by comparison. And while we're at it:
Here's Subaru's current sports car offering:
VS. Toyota's:
300bhp vs 180bhp... AWD vs. FWD.... Gotta go with Subie on this one.
2013 Subaru BRZ Limited 6MT - on order
2012 Audi S4 6MT - company lease, baby!
1987 Toyota MR2 - 20v blacktop screamer
1973 Datsun 240Z - highway monster project
The front end of the Scion looks better imo. Don't need nav, etc. And the Scion is likely to be less expensive. But really, they're the same car. So which ever I can get my hands on first...
im a long time subaru fan, but whichever gets the most bang for the buck (sounds like scion will have the better price for the options i am interested in).
full disclosure:
i have had WRXs and an STI for the last 10 years, and now i have a turbo legacy but i also had a saabaru.
IMO 86>BRZ>FRS
hate scion and love toyota. subaru is still neutral but like ive stated in the past, FRS is my 1st choice as it is cheaper and im not much for the luxury options that subaru are offering. first mod will be changing the badging to toyota though
to me, its like the toyota father gave two of his sons branches of his company. the intelligent son made lexus. the frat boy dude bro son made scion. thus, i cant respect scion. do you understand what im trying to say?why do u like the 86 so much more over the FRS?
so then it's pretty much all brand

yep bullseye and also they type of people that drive scion.
What type of people drive scion?
Depends on what kind and whether you mean in reality or stereo typically.
For instance the scion XB
Stereo typically driven by ricers and made to look like this.
In reality you are just as likely to see an older person driving it.
The young buyer profile makes perfect sense. But here’s where Scion’s market turns interesting: older buyers love the car.
“You also see older buyers, people in their 60s and even 70s, who you might not expect to be the typical Scion buyer,” Taguchi continues. “But they’re young at heart.”
“This buyer is attracted to the car for its reliability and dependability. They know it’s a Toyota and it stands out from the crowd. So it’s different than the expensive cars their friends might drive.”
True. The older neighbor who motors along inconspicuously in a Toyota Avalon will never be mistaken for a grey-haired driver in an xB.
Well I thought the BRZ looked nicer for some reason. I got to see them both at the Calgary Auto show. I like the look of the BRZ, and the FRS price tag. Problem is in Canada we pay between $5 to 10 grand more for ANY Subaru then the US. No idea why? We have THE major port from japan (vancouver) feeding all of Canada and the entire North West coast of the US. Our dollar is also worth more, but we pay a markup on everything, Subaru has the worst markup of any Japanese brand here (in fact Nissan charges $1200 less for the 370z here then in the US)!
For example these prices are pulled from the Subaru website *Canada WRX STI 4 Door $38995 CAD* --- *USA WRX STI 4 door $34090 USD* So if the BRZ in the US starts at $25 grand it will cost $29 grand up here. that's what I am expecting
If your second , your last
I was just saying the BRZ looked better, and pointing out the fact that Suabru has a huge markup in Canada. Im sure that buy the time they are out I will be forced to buy the Scion.
If your second , your last
I chose the Scion because I did not want the nav system that is standard on the Subaru. I also did not want to pay extra for fancy lights, push button start etc., and I like that I can order TRD parts ala carte, not in packages.
All my cars are very formal; they all wear black tires!
It's called socialism. You pay for it. Here we pay for things we want (depending on a Supreme Court ruling). Hell, I'd ditch paying for social security if I could. Rather pay into my savings.Sorry to bring up political ideology but it's true. Europe pays alot more for cars too.
91 hardtop mr2 turbo
despite the price difference, where does the new bmw 328i fit in with these cars?
