    When will you buy?

Some people don't like buying cars the first year they come out. Cars do have bugs that they are able to work out over the first couple years and generally the later version of the generation is a better car over all.

So when will you consider buying?

For me, it's within the first month. If it's around $25k for the options I want, I'm looking to put $15k down on it, finance $10k.

Due to the whole college graduating job thing, I probably couldnt even afford it till its 2 to 3rd year. And if I could the 3rd year models would probably be my pick.

I bought a '08 WRX ,partially out of immediate need.(my '03 WRX wagon was stolen). I was happy with the car for the most part. Then the '09 came out. My wife bought one. It is a much better car. Si I will probably wait. But if the Toyota version is out for a year prior to the Subaru release, there might not be a reason to wait.

i would probably wait until 2nd or 3rd year so all the bugs can be fixed if it comes with a few..

I would look at buying a demostrator from the dealer, who can take the initial depreciation hit. Then I would trade up in the 3rd year of production because for the first 12 - 18 months the thing is going to have bugs, every new model does.

How is buying the demonstrator different from buying a regular car?

It'll have a couple hundred or couple thousand (hard) miles on it already. Then the dealer sells it for cheap. Basically they are paying for the depreciation in that first year and you get essentially a new car that's been beat on a little.

I'm assuming you have to request this. Sounds interesting depending on how much
    cheaper it would be.

They would just have to have one available they could sell you. Personally if I'm gonna buy a new car I want it to be my new car and not slightly used. My Eclipse had like 20 miles on it when I got it.

Assuming this will be out by 2011, I'd have to say 2nd year of production or after the facelift.

Motortrend is reporting 2013 as the release year. Not model year but the year it will be released. Sounds like a long ways away but it'll be here before we know it. I remember when the Evo was still 2 years away from going on sale here. lol

I'd like to wait at least a year, but as things stand, there'll be one car between my current car and the 216, if it ever comes out at all before we're all driving hydrogen fuel cell cars.

x2. Waiting for STI specs or a GR/TRD version to see if I'm going to buy at all. a base 200 hp, 150 torque car. Needs some go. I could buy a rx-8 (turd) or build a S-chassis for less dough. Work too hard, not to get any fun version.

I have read that Subaru will do a base spec version on 16's and a full fat job on 17's etc for a £3k premium... wouldn't that be nice! Don't know about the Toyota.
