Is it me or does AWD seem to be the IN thing of this year? If I recall correctly a few manufacturers are offering used to be RWD only vehicles with AWD.
Yes, I'll buy the FT-86.
No, I'll keep waiting.
I'll but the lightest baddest version of this chassis that I can get. I'd buy it from tampax if it was 2200lbs and had great brakes and the 6speed tranny.
Hard to answer outright. It would not be my primary daily. I would hope to drive it more than I did my Evo which I put 12,000 miles on in 3 years. I would also hope to do more track days as I think this chassis will be less expensive to keep up with the abuse of track duty. In short I hope it just gets more use period.
A lot of this depends on what the car is like when it shows up. If it's overweight and/or too soft I will skip it all together. If there is a track variant that is targeted at serious enthusiasts I may put money down on one in advance.
Although doubtful that the car would be "soft". I do hope to see a Factory turbo model, dont care if the suspension is changes. Id like it to have an upgraded LSD though. Based on the expected weight and power of this car, it will no doubt be fun for track days.
I hope its not soft but it seems the be the Toyota way anymore. Their family cars are about the most numb drives I have been in for some time. They seem far more apt to deliver appliances than cars these days but maybe they have a clue?
The car company I most trust to "get it right" would be Mazda. They have a great car in the Mazda 3, Miata and RX-8 but none really quite hit the mark for me. Rumor has it that a new MX3 is coming that may be based on the Kabura concept car. If that hits it WILL be a winner, no doubt.
toyota had the awd celica rally which was very pleasing to a certain market modified, as for me .. Toyota please. RWD.

Omg ... Awsome?!
I'd buy the RWD, but I'd be seriously tempted by the AWD, especially if it comes with centre and rear diffs, and a front:rear bias of say 40:60, 35:65 in normal conditions. But then I do live in the frozen north.
