Anyone attend the New York Auto Show yet?

Want to know your thoughts on the Scion FR-S.

Ok, so, I went on Wednesday the 27th, and it was pretty cool. The FR-S is pretty awesome looking and was getting a lot of attention too. I also saw that LFA, sweet.

I just came back from the NY Auto show today and was pleasantly surprised at the high qulity of craftsmanship of the bodywork. The paint job was beautiful and the body lines were fluid. I loved the rear diffuser because it made the back bumper much more aggressive. I really wanted to sit inside the vehicle but of course it was off limits.

I went yesterday; IMO, it's the best looking concept to come out in years (at least of reasonably priced cars). Personally, I'd rather drive a boring-looking sleeper, but if they can make a cheap, efficient, lightweight, short-throw-equipped, RWD 4-seater that is also pretty, I'm not going to complain.

Because it's on an elevated platform, I doubt many people realized just how tiny it is (especially height). As others mentioned, it's just a shell (no interior or undercarriage). The wheels are sick up close, but personally I'd like 16s or 17s on the production version (even 18s are too big on a car like this, IMO).

I swung by it twice and both times it was mobbed. I overheard nothing but positive comments from other attendees like:

    "That's a Scion?"
    "Wow."
"They did a great job with that."
    "At $25k, I'd buy one."

I asked the Scion rep about weight, cost, and release date, and as expected she didn't say anything I haven't read before.

I plan to put down a "pending test drive" deposit this week.

when are they going to start taking deposits? i talked to my toyota dealer a couple weeks back about a deposit and the said that they would call me when they were able to take one. i think they will show a production version first, right?

Do live far away from NY? I"ll just say the auto show experience is amazing. As soon as you walk onto the showroom floor, the soft capet, new car smell, bright lights all tantalize your senses. At the food court basement level, NY dirty water sausages are pure flavor and has a nice car exaust taste. Then you make your way up to the Jeep Test drive range and the incline up the artificial hill is crazy. For the kids, there was bumblebee the real life Camero transformer (huge). Come out next time!

15 hours according to google maps, or a $376 plane ticket. GA to NYC. I would love so much to go to the autoshow. I have never been out of the south so it would be an awesome treat.

i too went on Saturday. the concept was really nice in person. definitely has to drop the 20's though. the hellaflush tC with rotiforms next to it was a nice touch. sucks though because if i wanted to see modified, slammed cars, i'd go to HIN. stock cars for auto shows like this.

Yeah the tC was nice as well & as you said, it needs to drop those 20's. I hope they have those same style rims for the production version just in 18" because the rims themselves look sick, but I doubt they will.

In markets around the world its known as the Toyota Zelas, in the USA its a Scion tC. This is a modded out version that beat out thousands to be on display.

That paint is not hot either. They could have chosen a better car.

I agree with you all because we're more about the tuner lifestyle than the artistic stlye aspect BUT we must keep an open mind on the artist/tuner's point of view. He was aiming more for a stance, Hella Flush, Poke, Low Stance etc.. lifestyle. His interior was hand stitched with the baseball glove leather and had a custom pieces all over.
Second place went to something more like the Tuner taste. Ill try to dig around to find it.

you can be low stance/hella flush with other wheels and not VIP.
I have nothing against VIP, I myself would never do it though

Agreed, I am open to the fact that his car was done in that style. I think it is well done, just not in my taste.

I like some VIP. q45 with Nissan President aero on some Work Euroline wheels, dropped would be hot. Then maybe a 5 speed swap and a super charger and exhaust........
