I'm going to the auto show on the 18th is anyone else going?
I plan on going with my 4yr old son.![]()
I'm just going with the girlfriend. What day are you going?
18th as well. Can't wait to check out both cars in person.
BRZ for sure... Is Toyota/Scion having the production model there as well?
No scion will not be released till Tokyo in the end of November :/ and hey maybe I will see you there lol
it is to my belief that the BRZ at the LA auto show will not be the production model but only the STI version of the concept, and the production models of both the BRZ and Scion will not debut till the tokyo show... except the BRZ which might be revealed at that subie event like the day before or whatever

I be goin :] ill take lots o pics!!
I like it Sideways
Actually I think the Scion will be the cheapest model, which means it will also probably be the slowest. I know the Toyota will have a bare bones, but we'll see what Scion does. That said, they've already said both base brz and frs/ft86 will be NA. When it comes to NA high comp/ high rev, a few parts won't change much, unless they are internal engine components and I doubt they will be. I would expect, even performance parts for the NA, less than 20 hp from intake, header and exhaust mods. That's tops and only 17 actual whp. Now maybe the Scion or BRZ NA redlines at 8000 over the others 7600 and then gets I/E/H and/or bigger valves and cams. That might make 30-40 hp and be something to talk about. 15 whp on a car like this is .1-.2 tenths in the quarter mile, which can be the difference in drivers. I just don't see any NA mods being enough to call one really "faster" without being so marginally different. The only other option is adding slight power AND taking out weight (like over 50 lbs).
Point blank. Getting power/speed out of a high efficiency NA 4 cylinder is very tough. The OEM's have already done the research and optimized the car out of the box. I have said this many times. It is becoming much more difficult to get real gains out of NA sport cars. This is why I want a turbo variant stock. They will build it for boost, which means tougher drive train components and lower compression. Swap to a larger turbo, exhaust, intake and add fuel to make gains over 50-100+ WHP. It's vastly different.

I agree with you it is a lot harder to get power out of na cars now without tearing apart the block, because they do come very optimized to their peak performance. And ya I would really like to see turbo out of the brz but I just can't understand how they will even the weight back out, the weight ratio Is a big thing about this car for its handling so I think it will need to be evened back out if it is turbo
yep. A 53 f/ 47 r doesn't scream balanced to me. I would rather see 47 f / 53 r with driver. Helps having a rear balance in braking. This is why the mr2 turbo is such a stud in braking. The rear brakes do more work and the car has better grip out back, especially before the weight transfers.
Larger rim/tire combo out back should help too. Also, they can mount the turbo back further to make it less of a hindrance. Adding 60 lbs up front, but behind the shock towers won't kill the handling either. Might be 54 f/ 46 r, but it'll make it up easily on throttle!

I'd be there. So sad that I can't make it![]()
