    FT86 essence?...

So, coming across a forum dedicated to this future machine in interested in,
i am wondering. Will this car have a Motor, suspension, and gearbox, like ae86/ s13/ s14 ect...

or. will these things have all kinds of crazy computer limits like the GTR (r35)

im really looking for for the first up top, (motor, gearbox, suspension, simple.) but it seems kind of unlikely. Im just praying that one day soon a car will be produced like the late 80s early 90s japanese sports car essence.

do any of you know this info? has it been released yet?

The GT-R is a engineers marvel in the sense of its computer controls, one of its strengths (factory) is the computer controls. You can call these limitations, but they can be modified if you are willing to spend the money and tune properly.

IMO, its hard to speculate with a Subaru engine inside a Toyota. I have no doubt there will be ECU and gearbox limitations with reason. Previous gen Celica ECU's had automatic correction or "tuning" that caused some obstacles for tuners, but its nothing that cant be overcome.

Every tuner is going to want their hand in the FT-86 and 086a mix, you can expect to have tons of options in the way of tuning or getting around any such limitations.

The FT-86 and 086a will be the hottest car on the market and as Paul Tan says, a "Goldmine" for performance parts.

Toyota FT-86: a goldmine for aftermarket parts

I want the car to be more bare-bones. While I adore the GTR for being a technical wonder I don't want to see the FT's price tag soar because of all the help it's giving the driver.

The thing that concerns me is the fact that while this car is being promoted as the heir to the ae86 (weaksauce engine) it's also being pushed as an environmental friendly car. Yea it's a 2.0l flat 4 but so that comes naturally. Expect to see some stupid ECU and management thanks to the d-4s head.

Agreed, I think these cars are supposed to be kind of what the Silvias(not 240's) were, just car with a nice power plant that you can do tons of shit too, that is relatively cheap, due to not having navi, premium this and that and lots of computer control.

I'm also hoping for this car to be a simple built, affordable fun machine. No $30K price tag please. If that means no turbo so be it.

Agreed, 30k tag will be the downfall of this car.

i said this in another thread,

to put into comparison to whats out there now, Hyundai has the genesis coupe 2.0t (which is a VERY nice car). The base starts at 22k and the track version (comes with brembos, upgraded suspension, 6spd, lsd the track is 500lbs lighter.) that goes for 27k. it would be safe to say to get a comparable toyota/subaru product will probably be 29-31k. i can see the base ft- starting at about 24 and ending at 29-31k with all the wanted upgrades.

not trying to burst any bubbles here, but that is probably going to be the reality.

on the suby side they will probably have something comparable to a wrx...like a watered down version if you will. then the sti version will be the bad boy. for suby i see it coming in 3 trims. n/a, boosted and boosted awd.

on the other hand, toyota will probably offer 4-6 versions of the car just like they do with every other model in their lineup. from cheapy to the loaded trd version.

I don't see the toyota version being that expensive (29-31k) honestly. That is WAAAY too expensive. Toyota themselves have said the car will start less then $20k. I'd assume that means like $19,995 or something. $10k in options would be a stretch even with option aero and wheels. Hell the shitty Solora barely gets to be that expensive.

Now the Suby version I would fully expect to be that much since it's gonna be bigger, and more powerful.
