Quick question. Is there a new Toyota and a new scion, or just a scion? A reputable auto blog seems think there will be two versions. Thoughts? If two, what are the differences?

Well there will obviously be a Scion model for the US/Canada and a Toyota model for the rest of the world, so technically there will be two; but as far as the US there is likely to only be one.

Yes - what he said - there will be a new Toyota and a new Scion, but they will be the same car, will minor detail changes to badges, neon lit boot signs that scream 'SCION' etc...
Lol, I can't wait to see all the ridiculous options that will be available to purchase when it comes out, unless it all comes standard then I would ask the dealer "Do I get a reduced price because I don't want any of that unnecessary excessive equipment in my vehicle?"
Yup. Never heard of a Scion 'til I came onto this site. You lot can have completely different names for the same products...
At first the change to a Scion was off putting to me. Once I thought about it more, I remembered when they had a pretty good factory upgrade support, supercharges for the Tc, suspension upgrades, etc, all that can be covered under a factory warranty as dealer installed options. I would not be at all surprised if the N/A version of this car from Scion has a low pressure forced induction option, with the FI version later making more power. Being Direct injection and Port Injection means that this could be a very boost friendly vehicle, so long as the high pressure fuel pump is a quality unit.
caveat to that: if could be very boost friendly if the compression is lowered, though 7 psi or less on a gt2560r would be a good match to this setup with the right tune.
But is it just me or does the Scion name bring along a whole truckload of baggage because of all the immature teenagers on them?
Toyota does this same thing. You can get factory superchargers for trucks and rolla's, etc. I do believe the compression ratio will be too high to take much boost. Basically, the car has been "supposedly" designed for NA only (high efficiency), so they probably used as high of a CR to increase performance, leaving out the room for boosting it. This car could boost very well with both types of injection. Especially if you were to add a fuel cell and add e85 for the regular fuel injection. Cools better and adds more octane. A cheaper way to basically run higher octane fuel and the benefits of the cooling properties of e85.

wrong, I might have one too.
Gotta see the specs and hope they don't Subarize the outside to look fugly. I mean they make one version of a car that looks good and then make it look fugly a few years later. I hope the first one is good and they can Subarize the second model. Have you seen the new Impreza? weak!

Guess I'm a little biased cause I'm a Subaru guy, but I think the concept looks good.
And I don't disagree that Subaru makes ugly models. Every company does. But they grow on you for sure
