Thumbs down Toyota declined to comment on FT-86 at SEMA

Ok lame post but RJF asked about the FT-86 at the Toyota press release at SEMA and they declined to comment. I know SEMA might not be the best forum for the FT-86 at this point, but if the car was to be in the hand of a major tuner they would steal the SEMA show. I get the feeling that only Akio Toyoda really understands what this car embodies and how badly the motorsports world desires a car like the FT-86. Like Mel said, they need to get with the details of this car and build interest, even though that won't be hard based on what we aleready know.

    Lame. Lame. Lame.

I'll be in Detroit for the NAIAS in Jan. I HOPE I can get some info then. I'll certainly ask. I can see them debuting the cart in NA at that show.

I'm a little concerned about what kind of budget the NAIAS will have this year with the automarket the way it's been for the last few... it's been getting a bit sparse int he past few years, lol.
    I like boost.

Indeed there was reason to be worried. BUT, IIRC every auto maker that backed out last year has signed on this year. It's gonna be a big show again. The industry seems to be turning around. Last months sales were very good for a lot for the manufacturers (By the Numbers - October 2009: Green is Growing Edition — Autoblog) and that had NOTHING to do with C4C either.

    We shall see.

The people that work auto shows don't know jack shit 99% of the time. The only time I ever ran into anyone at an auto show that was actually someone important was in Detroit and it was a designer for Mazda. She happened to hear me gushing about the car and we had a long conversation about how much I liked it. The why's, and what not's. Obviously my opinion wasn't that important in the long run. lol. That was like 3-4 years ago or whenever that debuted.

Other then that I find if I ask anything that outside of the brochure they look at me like I'm the idiot.

IMO it makes sense to m. Sema seems to be all about tuning and what not. I think it's a bit to early in the Ft's life cycle for that yet.

It technically isn't even in it's life cycle yet. I hope to hear this thing get the green light and then see a production ready concept soon.

Very true. With the amount of positive buzz this thing is generating I would put my life savings on it that it will get a green light.
