If toyota just released this photo, do you think this is, in a 'round-about way, confirmation that the ED2 design will be used as the final version...

Did someone turn the thermostat up in this thread? Just curious...

Just FYI as you might already know, this was marketed for the Geneva Preview, indicating the FT-86 is making its European debut. Interesting is the fact that they are still using the EC2 design, and spending serious money on its promotion. Apparently this is official Toyota marketing material (see image below).

More importantly, WHY HASN'T IT DEBUTED IN AMERICA!?

    You beat me to it....

I was going to post this from another site, showing that the photo was date stamped for this month, which counters the rumor that just a few months after it's october release the ED2 version was canned for the unknown calty design. I knew it was bogus....

Yeah, seeing this I would say this is toyota's response to the article that started the rumor that they had gone with the calty design. The rumor was that toyota had decided to go with the calty design just a few months after it's reveal in Oct '99. This photo was clearly date-stamped to show it was released this month of this year. Their not going to continue to release photos of a car they don't intend to use.

Viva La ED2 version of the FT-86!

Hahaha this is funny but I think it could actually be one of thr reasons. Toyota could want to stall in the US a bit till this pedal thing dies down. I mean who really wants a new Toyota right now?

Sad but true. The good thing, is the majority of people interviewed in the US have been saying this won't shake ther opinion of toyota as reliable car company. I think toyota moved just in time to keep the name alive. I for one have owned many toyotas and loved them all. Thats why when the FT-86 came out, I was floored. Waiting with extreme impatience for it, but it should be worth the wait.

I'd buy one in a heart beat. They fucked up. Every manufactuer has had issues in the past. This is literally the first set of big issues Toyota has had in it's history. They will be fine.

People still by Exlporers even though their tires killed people.

So for me, this doesn't do a damn thing.

The Explorers were still bought because people blamed the tires more than the vehicle itself. The difference between you and the masses is that you are intelligent.

You're right they underestimate the legions of people who actually will stick with toyota no matter a small recall. I say as long as the quality and reliability are still there no worries for the future. By the way the picture is so hot its buring my eye sockets.
