Media Subaru 086a / 216a Spied in California?

This looks shopped to me although the large original photo makes me think twice about that. Notice the California plates, in Orange County. Could it be true? Subaru/Toyota Mule 086a / 216a in America... lets hope so!

Remember, when this was originally spied it was Left Hand Drive.

If it is, the chassis is a hodgepodge of parts while the
    drivetrain would be the 216a's.

That definately looks "more" towards the subaru side. Been watching this for sometime now, no new changes. They're likely testing the engine and a semi-possible chassis - front to rear axle - that tail is just wrong. Would be nice to get more info from Subaru. Maybe not until spring or summer.

Im just wondering what is in Orange County / Irvine area, quick search doesnt really tell me anything.

What I find odd is how unmodified this car looks from its original snaps from Obtober.

I can see where they would want to do atmospheric tests and fuel tests for the different locations, but why did we only get one shot? Just as odd: why would someone mock up a car like this on their own and then only take one shot?

That's what I thought was odd also. Usually you don't see a mule being tested for so long. Or at least the same mule with no changes.

It was probably a sneak of the 2011 sedan STI - the small sections noticeable have the same lines.
