^^^^^^ assuming that is the Scion FR-S updated specs...?
so this car is over a foot longer now? i hope this thing isn't going to weight over 2800 lbs! it's now a foot longer than the last gen celica, which weighed in around 2450-2550 lbs. can they keep this thing light? i mean it has a drive shaft and transfer case over the celica AND is a foot longer. not to mention 5" wider. i can see being somewhat wider, but longer too?

yeah, that was what i had thought with that post. thank goodness too.
lower than a cayman? hell yeah. i probably won't get one of these when they come out and probably never new if they are 30k, but i will probably own one someday. mad
at toyota for driving up the price!!!! should be $25k for a turbo model with a 2.5L!!!!
cal> ride height and height are different. it says it's overall height is 2~3" lower, but it could have 2" more of ground clearance (referred to as ride height sometimes). means the seating/headroom might be smaller though or more tilted? who knows exactly. i'm not really tall, but hopefully i can fit with a helmet![]()

this is good news - I need to find out what my R53 (MINI Cooper S) would be in inches ... for a comp to a car which really does have a wheel at each corner.
OK so a MINI comes out as 143.9" long x 66.5" wide (without mirrors) x 55.7" high with a 97.1" wheelbase, and c. 2500-2600lbs. So, nearly 19.88 inches longer, 2.79 inches wider, and a whopping 7.51 inches lower - it should have an excellent, even wider wheel track for super pointy steering (if set up properly) and great handling!

What are you lot worried about with accomodation? Next I'll be reading about how many cup holders this thing has. In fact if I see an actual cup holder, I'll be in despair. And If my lanky friends can sit in a MINI without any trouble, this is a no-brainer, since it'll be wider...
It mostly depends on the seat, the seat height, and the positioning of the wheel and pedal set, and how much space the transmission tunnel takes up. Hopefully, ToyoBaru won't cock up when it comes to converting from right hand drive to left hand drive (for America and Europe markets cf Japan and Britain), as a low slung engine/gearbox could take up a lot of space from where you might like to have the steering column and your feet...
Whats concerning is the the wheelbase stayed the same, so thats 5" length and 2" width is all bodywork to accommodate the length and wheels. Knowing Scion and what I saw at NYIAS, this car was very much a Concept. There was no safety regulation influence here. Seeing it in person, it didn't look that small. Although I've never seen a car on its lonesome on a stage. haha.
Considering the weight of recent the Celica and MR-2, we can conclude this car will be 2700lb or less. They are targeting a lightweight and nimble car. We will get that. If a 2.0l is thrown in a 3000lb car no one will give it the time of day. Myself included, Id buy a 370z.
the wrx is 3200 lbs and the sti is 3350 or so.
dimensions of wrx
wheelbase 103.3
overall length 180.3
width 70.3 (without mirrors)
height 58.1
the frs is a foot shorter, 10" lower and a 1.5" wider. I would say it should weigh in at 2800 lbs or less. the awd has got to be over 75 lbs and the lowered height and a foot shorter should make up another 100 lbs. that's not to mention this is non-turbo and 2.0 vs 2.5L. turbos and intercooler parts are heavy. real heavy. i would say at least another 50 lbs. i will still rock one on it though.![]()
