Support The Wheel Thread! What Wheels you planning for your FT-86

Alright, so we can all plan ahead right? What wheels are you planning on installing on your FT-86 or 216a.

Beware as there are some serious wicked offset junkies here.

For me my tastes wont sway much, and have held true to these rims for years, and all cars.

West I love the gold wheels and deep lips. I would probably make a similar choice of wheels as evidence in my avatar. As long they are light weight for handling precision.

If I have an unlimited budget, Super Advan SA3R's. Maybe like 18x10 +22. Not even sure if they make that size or how that will fit on this car, but yeah, something like that.

hopefully these cars can actually run a decently wide rim(9-10") with a decent offset(20-30)

I like Works wheels, but that is like the standard, so I kind of want a rareish JDM wheel that not many people have.

I was kind of joking, but I wouldn't be surprised if I do stick with stock. My days of spending big money on my cars is kind of going away. I've kept my 09 Si with just a few minor adjustments, and I like it better than my old spec V that had every bolt on imaginable. My Si just has and Intake, tinted windows, HFP suspension, and HFP wheels. New tires are in my future, since I'm still rocking OEMs that are starting to wear.

If the FT-86 is in my future, I'll more than likely save my cash and keep it mostly stock like my civic. Aside from some nice pipes for sound, I'm not sure I'll do much else to it. I look at all of the money I have spent within the past year on things like furniture and traveling and I'm more content with that. There was a time when I'd see a new set of wheels more appealing than a new 40" HDTV and a new entertainment set, which I actually needed, but those times are gone. For example, instead of buying flashpro and an exhaust for a the civic, which I really wanted, I bought a new queen sized mattress and a bedroom set. I felt way less guilty about that.

Cliffs - I can put the money toward necessities, which satisfies me more.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Spending money of things that have a longer use or allow more enjoyment.

I would be very keen to see lightweight aftermarket rims with the same width and diameter as stock but allowed the fitment of bigger calipers and rotors.

Not sure if ANYTHING is official yet since most of our "news" comes from rumors or second-hand sources (except for West, of course, whose sources are impeccable ), but I'm fairly certain that we can all agree 19" rims are a no-go, 18" is probably the max, and 17" are the more likely candidate (especially since this is going to be a fairly small car - think S2000 rims). As for offsets, no clue. I'd like an aggressive one, but like everything in life, getting exactly what you want at a low price hardly happens. Nothing some coils/fender rolling can't fix though.

What PCD and Offset do you guys think it'll have?

    2005 Celica - 5x100 +39
    2011 Corolla - 5x114.3 +45
    2011 Camry - 5x114.3 +45
    2011 Imprezza - 5x100 +55
    2011 WRX - 5x100 +53
    2011 WRX STi - 5x114.3 +55
    2011 Liberty/Legacy - 5x100 +48
    2011 Legacy GT - 5x100 +55

I hope 5x114.3 +45, I think there's more choices in rims around that PCD n Offset.
Easy to get lower offset for more flush fitment.
From having a Celica its hard to find anything in 5x100 with lower than +35 offset.

Admittedly I have no idea what in the hell pcd is and how offset is measured, determine, what is really is.

All I know is I want wheels with a lip.

The offset of a wheel is measured in millimeters and is determined by the distance from where the wheel mounts to the hub to the centerline of the wheel.

    i.e.

Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com

The term PCD stands for (pitch circle diameter) and is the diameter of a circle drawn through the centre of your wheels bolt holes.

I'll keep my car stock for the most. I will only select Toyota or TRD branded accessories and performance options for my car in that case.
