I don't mind those who build drag cars, I would never do so but to each their own.
Its fun to at least take your car to the drag every year to see how she handles, unless of course its become a track bitch. The FT-86 will not be a drag car, pure and simple. |

No drift. It annoys me as it is not the fast line. Period.
No drag. Hard on parts and I do not care to have my fun in 12 second spurts. Auto-X is fine and all but I like 20-30 min sessions more. Track days are where its at for me. Back road action is great as well as there is no limit on track time and the events are always free. Sadly you have to stay sane as public road ways are NO PLACE to push limits. This is one reason I moved my EVO. Car was just far too fast to enjoy at legalish speeds. I hope this car can give me a lot of the fun with close to similar lap times once tuned. |

I can respect that. I am not really big on drifting or drag either. A road course seems like it would be a lot of fun to do.

Track days are the goods. Not sure where you are at but there are events to be had within easy drive of most places in America and Europe. I am blessed to be rather close to Mid Ohio and can get two days with Porsche club for just shy of $300 which may seem a bit spendy until you consider that it comes with a good bit of insight and instruction from SCCA and Club racers who ride along and offer insight until you are found to be safe, sane and ready to solo. Even after you are cut loose its great to get other folks in your car to offer thoughts on lines and technique as you always have something new to learn.
Best of all... the things you learn stay with you in every car you ever drive. As such its a better investment than any gizmo, hot part or bit made of unobtanium that you can ever add to a car. |

True story...
I was at Beaverun outside of Pittsburgh at the One Lap Of America driving/qual school a few years back and there was some old dude in an Olds Acheiva just beating folks stupid. Seems he was an experienced Auto-Xer who had a good grasp of driving dynamics and was put in the first timers group with a bunch of guys with FAST cars and no idea how to use them. It was quite a treat watching the little quad 4 powered car beating feet around BMWs, Porches and Vettes. |
