Question FT-86 & 086a Pricing, what are you expecting?

Here is the models I hope for and the prices I'm expecting.

    Toyota FT-86 Base = $20,000
    Toyota FT-86 TRD = $22,000
    Toyota FT-86 Turbo TRD = $25,000

    Subaru 086a Base = $20,000
    Subaru 086a STi Turbo $25,000

I dont see them offering many different models, and those are hopeful prices! I dont want to see anything over $25,000 MSRP.

If they can build a Scion tC for $18,000 MSRP there is NO reason this car should be over $20k for a base model.

This is what I'd pay for the following combo's... not saying they would necessarily cost this much. But when you start upgrading all aspects (including tires, brakes, wheels, etc). from the Scion tC products, I think the price will start going up.

    #1 choice - Subaru 086A w/EJ25 $27K
    #2 choice - Subaru 086A STi w/EJ25T $32K
    #3 choice - Toyota FT-86 w/EJ20 $23K
    #4 choice - Subaru 086A w/EJ20 $23K

Yea it will probably be the reality, IMO that's too much money.

Anyone going to wait for used models to start selling before they buy? I am even if it kills me to wait.

Ill buy new if Turbo options are available.

Here is what I think, no particular order of preference.

    Toyota FT-86 Base (EJ20) = $21,000
    Toyota FT-86 TRD (EJ20) = $23,000
    Toyota FT-86 Turbo TRD (EJ20) = $26,000 (To be offered 2-3rd year)

    Subaru 086a Base (EJ20) = $21,000
Subaru 086a STi Turbo (EJ20) $26,000 (To be offered 2-3rd year)

I'm hoping for it to start in the low $20's. I'd want it to MAX out at about $28k. And I'm talking aero, diff, TRD this and TRD that.

Most of all I don't want Navigation even as an option. No heated or cooled seats, no cooler in the glove box, none of that shit. Simple and driver oriented. I love the simplicity of the cockpit in the concept.

I'd be happy with say a base model (no sunroof), 6 speed, power locks/windows, LSD, Aero, 18 or 17" wheels (which would be swapped out ASAP anyway) for $25k. I could put like $10-$15,000 down and have a really small payment.

I'm gonna go with high 18's to low 20's on a non-turbo version. I'm thinking the base model will come with either steelies, or cheap rims that look decent. 6-speed manual, no fancy dash works, maybe a standard Aux hookup and a 6-speaker single-disc CD player\MP3. Open diff, of course, cloth seats, etc. I'm hoping that's the case. As nice as the higher-end models will be, I'd rather get the cheaper one (lower payment WOO ), and just make it my own from there.

They SHOULD offer a stripped down version, as mentioned similar to the EVO & STI's. Im talkin no AC or power options and even no CD player, this can keep the price down $17-18k which is perfect for young driving [minimalist] enthusiasts.

While we would like this I don't see them actually offering such a hardcore version of the car. Don't forgot this car is still gonna be targeted at women like every other sport coupe out there. Because that's they only way they will actually be able to build such a car.

It would be cool if they would try to cater to us enthusiasts a little more though.

Back in 95 when I bought my first 240sx noone knew what the car was and as a majority girls drove the cars.

I don't expect to see a no power locks windows option, that adds little weight and little to the overall cost.

Same with the radio and AC. I just don't see them offering without.

I can't live without a radio though. As hardcore as I am. lol

I am hoping for an out the door price of $30k for the AWD STI. Of course, hoping and reality are two different things. I don't know if I would buy the RWD. I am on my 4th Subaru and really appreciate its AWD system. I am not trying to start a RWD/AWD war here(that has been done to death), just stating my preferences.

That is the beauty of what they are doing here. They have the opportunity to please EVERYONE. Well except for the FWD Honda fanboys.

It would be a real shame for them to release one or the other here and not both. If they just release the RWD Toyota version then the AWD crowd will be disappointed. And visa-versa if they just release the Suby AWD version.

Wow, you guys have some low prices! Espescially for the STi models! Subaru would never offer it that cheap with all of the STi options it would have on it.... hence the cost of the current STi...
Also... the base genesis coupe seems pretty comparable to what the bas FT-86 might be... and that starts at $22k.

Even though it's not exactly what I would want, this is my best guess...

    Toyota FT-86 Base (EJ253): $22,000
    ??Toyota FT-86x (AWD EJ253): $24,000
Toyota FT-86 GT (EJ255): $27,000 offered 1 year after production

    Subaru 086a WRX (EJ255): $25,000
Subaru 086a STi (EJ257): $32,000 offered 1 year after production

Thats what I am HOPING for, not what I am expecting. I know they wont actually offer it without power options & a radio but it would be cool to see a manufacturer try it.

Scratch the radio-less idea, I drove my S13 for 2 months without music and I hated it with a passion

My radio was stolen out of my s13 about 5 years ago. It prompted me to get an ipod and haven't went back yet.

GTI =/= FT86. End of story. A FF I4 Turbo does not compare to a FR\AWD turbo 4. Price range may be similar, but performance is going to be massively different.

    I completely agree.
im not say that the FT86 and the GTI will compete in terms of proformance too much (fwd v rwd= rwd ftw) all im saying is they will compete in sells given that there are not many other rwd sports compacts on the market currently.

Well right now there is no name so it could end up being a lot of things.

lmao I know so damn true, that why I'm waiting the name so if I going to get one I will change it to either Corolla/Trueno/Levin, however if they put FT86 as default. Then I will leave it the way it is... I know "Celica" might appear, just not feeling that name on that car at all. That's just my thoughs. Let's pray something good for this little badass name for FT86.

I'm guessing between 24.5-27k for toyotas version.

    For the 'sti' between 30-32k.
