Toyota FT-86 and Subaru BRZ coupes finally revealed - BBC Top Gear

I dunno if their figures are right. Weigh the same as a VW sirrocco (~2500 lbs)? I dunno about that.

Prices 20,000 lbs (US 28k) and 25,000 lbs for the Subaru (or around 35k USD). A bit higher than I thought, but maybe Europe has to pay more for their cars? I don't feel like researching......

I used a 1.4 US dollar to 1 Euro, which I think is close. I would love it to be sub-2600 lbs, but seeing the race car at what 2450 lbs (?), I don't think 2600 is achievable.

The lowest I will go on weight is Ej25ti's 2850. No lower than that.

I think 27XX lbs could be possible. Remember, they've gone as far as not having a cd player in this. My 91 mr2 has a stock cd player and 7 speakers stock.

I personally could care less for most options on cars, i would rather they add more hp to the car for the cost of lets say a :cd player, 6 speakers, leather seats-door panels, passenger airbag.

What I would rather have is an adjustable ECU and a bottom end that that can hold 500+ HP from factory(even if that means adding weight to the block to achieve that number).

So Basically I would tell Toyota to give me/us a monster of and engine and keep your GPS (some gps system add over $500 to the price of a car...) and all of the other crap that keeps are eyes off the road!

Also 35K for even this car with nothing on the inside is to much 18-22K at max (thats with a upgraded turbo system.).
Check this link out- this is a little backing to why I say this car should be at 18-22K and not 35K ..
http://www.rsportscars.com/subaru/20...u-impreza-wrx/ The MSRP is at the bottom.

I've said it should have a turbo and be similar priced to the wrx, but they've reworked the non-turbo engine to be more efficient. That is what is driving up the price.

Susanoo wrote this about the race last week- I think he hit the Horsepower right on! 200 HP compared to the laptimes.... I hope they get the price right.. FT86 Owner Out.

    Susanoo wrote this:
In first place we have the Civic type r drived by Fugel (265hp for 1000kg apparently)
    In second place a S2000. I don't know the performances but stock it's 240hp for 1280kg.
So it's normal that the FT-86 (200hp for 1100kg) takes the 3rd place but she's close to the S2000.

Ps: the Civic and the S2000 are driven by locals drivers and it's not the first race for the cars

The British prices are probably right - including 17.5% sales tax and maybe 10% customs?

Base 2012 Scion FR-S with the smallest 4-cyl. non-turboed and 6-speed standard tranny should stream in for sale at around $24,295.

From Autos.ca, regarding FR-S pricing (for Canada, I assume):
Although unrelated to the AE86, the last rear-wheel drive performance coupe from Toyota was the Supra, and like the AE86, many Toyota enthusiasts still worship that car. Unfortunately for buyers of normal means, by 2002 it ended up being a near supercar, costing upwards of $80,000.

The Scion FR-S won’t cost that much (high 20s, according to one Toyota executive), and it’s expected mid-year as a 2013 model.

I think the base will be 25,000 and the range will be up to 32,500. I hope You are right. Only time will tell.

Im dearly hoping for a low 20k range on the base FRS (which I am assuming will be slightly cheaper than the Subaru version), but I could see the base being closer to 25-26k.

Either way I am saving up still and hoping to either get one late this year or possibly early next year.

I'm hoping a folding wheelchair fits in the trunk. They say the trunk will hold 4 race tires, a tool box and have room to spare. I hoping.

In the last 7-8 months, the hypothetical price has grown from just over $20k, to high $20k. And now I'm hearing rumblings that the CDN price will carry a significant markup over the US. Like closer to $35K, up in the GTI/Cooper S territory.

I'm still not getting how with the two currencies being virtually alike, that the large chasm still exists! What could possible cause cars in Canada to be $8-12k more expensive than the identical car in the US? Demand? Yes, larger population would play a role, but $8-12k?!?

My buddy at a Calgary Toyota dealer said they were told $29k CAD for the loaded FRS.

I've just finished reading the new C&D article that my buddy scanned for me. It's comparing the frs vs the brz. Overall a pretty good read, but upping the price again. This time it's listed at 26000. Up 1500 from the last time they talked to toyota execs.

Also... the base genesis coupe seems pretty comparable to what the bas FT-86 might be... and that starts at $22k.

Even though it's not exactly what I would want, this is my best guess...

    Toyota FT-86 Base (EJ253): $22,000
    ??Toyota FT-86x (AWD EJ253): $24,000
Toyota FT-86 GT (EJ255): $27,000 offered 1 year after production

    Subaru 086a WRX (EJ255): $25,000
Subaru 086a STi (EJ257): $32,000 offered 1 year after production
haha so the models werent very accurate, but hey for being over two years old my pricing wasnt too far off!
