This car shipping NA only will make it Toyota's version of the 240SX. Great platform with an engine that needs a few grand dumped into it to make it killer.

My hope is that if it does come NA it has a low compression with a TRD turbo option. I don't want any higher than 9:1.

Yeah, but the k24de sucked ballz. You can dump big sums for little gains. Nothing like the sr20.

I will agree with a 9:1, but will they even consider that with the trick fueling (meaning, they can push +11.5:1 like in the 2gr), why would they do that IF they don't plan on having a turbo model. Even if they did, they'd just swap pistons between the two and add the turbo with it as a full on model, IMO. Probably only possible in Subaru form, which is what I'm looking forward to seeing what is done.

I do think 160-180 tq is possible due the the fact that the trick injection both allows more precise fueling and the cooling affect of putting the injectors further back in the airstream. Almost like water injection. This will help keep combustion temps lower and therefore allow more CR and/or timing (look at the Lexus power numbers and CR's). We shall see though. 150 tq? weaksauce!!!! Give me boost please!!

160tq is weaksauce. My KA now has that much torque and it doesn't do shit at low or high rpms. I look at it like this. If the Tc had a force induction option (at a an expensive price) I think this car will too. I really hope they don't do the high compression route, that will kill most aftermarket turbo solutions unless you are ready to shell out serious cash to build the bottom end or stick to 6-7 psi of boost (see VQ35).

I too believe the Subaru will have a boosted version, which is why that is what I have my eyes on.

havent been on here in awhile, no more internet at home but its so slow at work i had to read up, so yesterday im helpin my girl's brother move in to his new place and a toyota warranty rep is there uncle so hes there aswell, we start bs'n about work and how i liked the new rs 7.0 tc so much n he mentioned the FRS, i said man i been on a ton of forums bout that i know more than u think, being a smart ass, i said i wanted 1 till i kept reading theres not going to be a turbo version, he said what u mean no turbo its a 4 cylinder rear wheel drive lightweight toyota subaru joint car, how stupid do u think they are, trd turbo is already started because he had to go over the warranty information about all problems possible with the components of turbo charged systems. so i said good whens it coming out? he said FRS is coming in june of 2012 and trd versions probly not till summer of 2013 and then the first release series of it around the same time, the release series may be the start of the turbo version in fact.

so there right from a very high up toyota warranty claims worker, confirmed trd turbo option after 1st year of production and a release time for the FRS.

he did not comment on hp or torque thats not his deal hes just what can go wrong, why, how, and what to warranty and the length of warranty. everything will be a normal toyota warranty for the scion n/a and boosted 3/36 everything, 5/60 powertrain, 8/80 emissions, but there still meeting about turbo to be 3/36 or 5/60

BAM he made me happy lol

Welcome back, that actually makes sense to me. Release the car N/A in 2012 first then turbo refresh. Though a year seems a little long. I would think 9 months would be better for a 2013 model. Unless he meant early summer.

That's what I was thinking too. Try to sell the NA models first and release the turbo later, but hush on the turbo because they will sell na's and then have a turn around from some na buyers for the turbo's. Marketing Let us know about the turbo option first, so we don't even consider the na and then we will get some options on the turbo model because we've been saving for it!

From the grouping in the race, it is a NA with 2.0L engine. If it is going to do any good it will have to be around 200 hp and better than 150 ft-lb torq to run with Honda Civic type-R. I am still holding out for the hope of NA 200 Hp and 189 ft-lb torq.

This is my first post to this forum. I am somewhat suprised that Toyota has teamed up with Subaru, I suppose for the use of the flat four engine, when their working relationship with Yamaha dates back to the 70's and Toyota owns a portion of Yamaha (5-10%). Yamaha has cast several engines for Toyota such as the variable valve timing GE/FE VVTI/L and has had a hand in most of Toyota racing activities. I think if they wanted a low CG engine use a dry sump or lay the motor on its side or develope a new horizionally opposed engine. The inline four has had such extensive developement, like the marine outboard applications where I think they use dry sump already as the engine stands on end towards the prop. Anyway I like the body style and I looking forward to some real road tests, I hope the handling and chassis is stong enough for racing potential.

This is from my deduction. By compare the new FA vs the current EJ turbo in Impreza WRX. It is just minor plumbing work to put a turbo into to FA engine. So I guess the turbo will be coming for WRX/TRD. I am leaning toward leasing a BRZ then go after the BRZ WRX.
