    Hello from New Zealand

    Hello,

I'm a Toyota/Car Fan so I figured I'd sign up to the forum and chat. From New Zealand .. .you know the place where Lord of the Rings was filmed (cause alot of people don't know where New Zealand is)

    A bit about myself

I'm 21, I got into cars when I was 17 when I decided I liked Soarers but was too poor to buy one, and one day I found one that needed a bit of work and bought it with no mechanical knowledge forcing myself to learn... and thats the story of how I got into cars, with the help of Google and some books from the library. I'm no longer scared of any sort of my own mechanical work, but I still hate wiring!!!

I have paid for most of my cars from buying cheap (usually had something wrong with it) sports cars, fixed them up and selling for a bit of profit + working.

    Currently own

89 180sx SR20DET 5MT (Fun car, love it too, about 300whp, chipped ECU t28bb turbo, still need about 5k(NZD about 3.7kUSD) worth work before its finished (how I want it) but its getting there from when I first got it)
96 Soarer 2JZ GE AT (My fave car- future build car, just don't have the money to do my dream (LS1/3 TT) build so leaving it stock atm)
    97 Levin 4AGE 5MT (Run around)
(would put up some pictures but I don't have any current ones and too embarrassed to show old ones.. is it just me or are batteries expensive?)

    Previously owned

    91 Toyota Soarer 1JZ GTE
    C35 Laurel RB20DE NEO6
    200sx CA18DE
    Audi A3 (2L turbo engine)

Moral of my story: With a can do attitude and google you can learn nearly anything you want.

Some advice if your going to get into working on cars: Don't by cheap (usually Chinese) tools, thery're a waste of time and they'll wreck your hardware, wish someone told me this when I first got into it, no metal is not just metal, and metal can brake.

The Dream: to own a Japanese Car collection, mainly spanning from the 80's - early 2000's

I work as a IT solutions project manager (people ask me what that means so .. ) it means -> people ask me for technical advice I tell them the best way to setup what they want, and connect them with the right people and mange the whole process.

    That's me

    Welcome to Toyobaru.net

I love New Zealand, beautiful country. Sad about Christchurch earthquake and all the damage. I hope to go back within the next year or so.

@ RJF thanks I love my country its real nice.

@ EJ25Ti thanks, just my hobby... well this is them from about a year ago. The Soarer's still stock, only differences is I put some wheels back on, 180sx, I swapped the running gear into a better 180sx body (so not the actual one you see in the picture), body is factory, lowered on adjusties, and had some engine work (pretty standard engine mod 300x600 intercooler, s15 bb turbo boosting 16psi, z32 AFM 550 injectors, chipped ECU about 300whp, 2.5" exhaust).

.... and this forum won't let me upload an image?? only insert one from the net?...

Welcome you'll need to host the pics on Photobucket, imageshack etc. then link it.

Stick the direct link URL in these [IMG][/IMG]

I would love to go to New Zealand but would faint at the size of the spiders there.

The spiders are bigger in Australia and will kill you more slowly and a lot more painfully Cal!

Welcome to the Forum curtains, its the best one for the FT-86/FR-S on the net. I have holidayed in NZ a few times now and loved every second of it. Great collection of cars you have as well.
