    Autopista Review with Engine Pic

    Please see the link.
    Another Review

This time from the Spanish magazine "Autopista", the most important and reliable of my country (IMHO)

The reporter was one of the six chosen to make a first evaluation of the prototype and give feedback to engineers. Like the other reviews so far (CAR, Autocar, Motortrend, C/D), he liked the car a lot. He says it drifts great and that the feeling is similar (despite the distances) to Renault RSs.

Though there's almost nothing new in the article, there are some interesting statements I can't remember seeing in the forum and I would like to share them.
The engineers assured him that there will be two manual gearbox options with different ratios
The Toyota will be the most affordable of the trio
The test unit was wearing Michelin Primacy HPs in 215/45 size on 17" wheels
They have freed car's electronics (ECU) so aftermarket industry can tune it at its will
It's going to be on sale on June of 2012
There are some good photos of the reporter drifting the car, but the one I think it's new is this:

I LOVE the fact that the engine isn't covered up with all kinds of plastic shit. Another sign that this car WAS made for the enthusiast first.

    Si, pero un poco.

I agree that they made it pretty easy to work on too. Look at the oil filter. Right on top of the engine. I like how the battery is stashed back against the firewall. Looks like the engineers knew where the weight was and did what they could to make it more neutral, while also simple. Most everything looks easy to get to, unlike my mr2.

This is also the bay of the prototype. It could quite possibly get a bit more traditional OEM crap, (battery in front, more plastic etc.)

The new FB turbo's sit under the car.

The bay looks production ready. I bet it's the same, with only added plastic, if that.

I really can not tell how you going to rout the intake for the turbo with this cramp configuration...

From this angle, it looks overly cramped. I would say though, there is space between the engine accessories and radiator a few inches thick from the radiator cap and the yellow fill cap on the right (windshield wiper fluid?).

Also there looks to be smaller gaps on the rear left and right of the engine, the small one being next to the brake booster/ brake fill reservoir and a slightly larger gap next to/ diagonal to the battery.

We'd need to see the underside of the car to see how it might be routed, but I think there would be room for a turbo under the car and routed to either a top mount or front mount. The intake pluming to the turbo along with to the intercooler combined will make it harder to mount the turbo further under the car and still plumb it in. If there isn't any room along the cross member, under the engine, it will be hard to route it under the engine, unless there is room to fit the turbo in front of the engine. It would have been much easier to mount and run plumbing if they would have moved the engine back in the bay a few more inches and/or pushed the front wheels further to the front/ elongate the front some.

Ok that makes more sense. I was wondering why it looked so off compared to the rest of the bay.
