Post LA Auto Show: Subaru To Introduce New Concept, Themed "Confidence in Motion"

LA Auto Show is set for Novemeber 19-28th, and so comes an official press release from Subaru (FHI, Fuji Heavy Industries) regarding a refocus of their brand. According to the press release, this will be based on the a concept model which will encompass their new direction. Take this announcement for its face value, FHI is emphasizing its overall offerings from aerospace to power generators. We at Toyobaru.net ask why such an statement needs be included in a Press Release? Maybe its simply the focus on green cars, or maybe its a shift to break free from the AWD centric focus through the last decade. Either way, we can bet to see a green product offering and re-branding at the LA Auto show in the coming weeks.

Based on the provided image, there is no hood scoop. Note the recent spy shots clearly added an top mount intercooler into the front hood, as the earlier spy shots had no such TMIC. Dont forget Subaru's statement about the model introduced at LA will be a concept, so Electric/Hybrid/Turbo as it may be, we wont be viewing a production product. Lets hope this isn't the "Hybrid Tourer" seen last October at the Tokyo Motor show.

Now the question is, will be see the Toyota FT-86 variant; or something completely different? We will find out soon!

    PRESS RELEASE:
FHI Establishes New Brand Statement: "Confidence in Motion" - To Showcase a Concept Car Embodying the Brand Statement at the LA Auto Show

Tokyo, November 2, 2010 - Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, announced today the establishment of a new global brand statement, "Confidence in Motion", as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the Subaru brand.

"Confidence" reflects Subaru's attitude toward engineering excellence and the trust generated among drivers by following through on its commitment to provide both enjoyment and peace of mind. "in Motion" expresses Subaru's resolve to continue innovating to meet customer expectations in a world of constant change.

Subaru will proactively address global environmental issues and the demands of ever-maturing automobile use. Subaru believes automobiles should be more than just a means of simple transportations. They should also be a source of enjoyment, and enjoyment rests on a foundation of peace of mind. These two inseparable values are central to the Subaru experience. As customer expectations are diversifying, Subaru will foresee these needs with independent thinking and continue to offer enjoyment and peace of mind without losing sight of the essence of what an automobile should be.

"Confidence in Motion" expresses Subaru's aim to continue evolving in order to offer even more customers new ways to enrich their lives through a uniquely satisfying Subaru experience.

From now on, "Confidence in Motion" will be at the center of all Subaru activities. As the first step, FHI will exhibit a concept car embodying the new brand statement at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show in Los Angeles, California, USA (press days on November 17 and 18, open to the public from November 19 to 28). A press briefing with FHI President & CEO Ikuo Mori is scheduled for Wednesday, November 17 at 12:20 (PST) at the Subaru booth.

I really doubt this is the Subaru everyone is hoping for, Subaru does not work that fast. I considered going to this show but decided it isn't worth the trip. Maybe NEXT years LA show.....yeah. Don't want to bum folks out but if i'm wrong, I should be punished...lol.

Yea, I'm kinda doubtin it too, though Toyota's concept has been out for quite some time now, and we've seen nothing from Subaru, and there are test mules. The article makes it sound promising as well. Regardless though I always like new Subarus anyway.
