Meh. I don't think this thing is going to have enough power for my taste. I've lived in the 150's-200 whp range for too long. My next car needs to have some balls. At least enough to make a crown vic that I have to drive for work not feel faster than my DD. bummer. I guess I'll have to see after a test drive.

Reflashes like taking it to your tuner after you put on a part, like your supposed too.

well yea it's not hard to gain 20whp when you get a real reflash with a turbo... i was just trying to say that no exhaust alone is going to give you a 10whp gain

haha no that would have to be some amazing exhaust lol if it could. do you think there will be a power difference between the fr-s, the regular subaru, and the sti? or do you think just the weight and suspension will differ?

I would hope the STi version has more power than the rest.

This might be a stupid question, but can you put ITB's on a flat four?

It's not a stupid question. as far as my understanding of the engine goes I would see no reason why not.

I think the Scion/Toyota/Subaru BRZ will have the same power, with possible power adder options (like trd exhaust or intakes), while the STI will have a turbo. If they don't turbo it, it would be lucky to have 20-30 more hp (or 17-25 whp). Getting more than 30 hp out of an NA engine would require drastic moves like ITB's, cams, etc. I doubt toyota/subaru would go this route considering STI's have always had a turbo. Would it be cool to have a 240 hp, ITB'd, 8000 rpm screamer BRZ STI? Yes, but a 230 hp turbo would be better.

If the BRZ STI is just a weight dropping regimine, brakes, seats and suspension, I'll cry and then laugh at how dumb Subaru/Toyota is. Then push the old mr2 turbo over 400 whp.

Then again, how would YOU account for the difference between the chart engine figures in the OP, and the C&D test of the BRZ, which revealed slightly higher figures?

    Dear Mother Goose,

Until Subaru and Toyota actually roll out the car, every one except Subaru engineers are just guessing. I personally think C&D are just pulling number out of their @$$ because they have done that many time before.

Happy hunting unless you are Canadian Goose.

Actually I do think that is possible. There are some cars that have plenums and ITB's. The rb25 and 20v 4age, IIRC, are two of them that have itb's inside the plenum.
