I promise you that the uprights on that spoiler, (especially combined with the quarter window/c-pillar design) will cause impeded rear vision, at least when it comes to checking for a lane change. The only reason it's not a blind spot on EVO's and STi's is because of the full size windows on the rear doors and the much more vertical C-pillar. Though looking at it from this angle, and the view from behind, I'd say you are right as far as straight back visibility goes, it even looks like they arched it to help with that.
That's why I don't think the spoiler will stay on production Toyobaru FR-S models. Impeded sight out the back, unless Toyota is going to offer camera's on NAV.
It'll still be an option, it didn't stop mitsu with the evo, toyo with the Supra, dodge on the srt-4, or subbie with the STi
the last gen celica had a wing like that on it you could get with the "action package." seems like this car will probably have that same package deal. hopefully a turbo option to boot!
91 hardtop mr2 turbo
I miss the curvy front fenders and the rear haunches of the Scion FR-S that debuted at New York. Is there any possibility that Toyota and Subaru are sharing the development drive program at the Nurburgring and what we are looking at is the more 'plain jane' Subaru version while the Toyota bodywork will get the curves back into it? Who is going to the Tokyo Motor Show in Japan in December?
