Post Toyota to Australia, "Do we have your attention now?"

After almost 10 years without a hero performance model in their line-up, Toyota Motor Corporation Australia recently moved forward with plans to release the sporty FT-86 into the Australian market. To build excitement for Toyota's return to their motorsport roots, Oddfellows Sydney created a high impact billboard promoting the latest concept version of the FT-86, due to appear at the Australian International Motor Show, due October 19th.

    Official PR from Toyota AU:

Toyota is staging five premieres of stunning new concept and production cars at the Australian International Motor Show in July.

Australia's number-one car company will take the wraps off two new hybrid show cars, a driver-oriented sports-car concept, a Euro-inspired next-generation small car and an even tougher version of Australia’s favourite ute.

Toyota Australia's senior executive director sales and marketing David Buttner said: “This raft of new Toyota cars provides car lovers with a ‘motor show within the motor show’ and confirms Toyota is fast approaching an exciting new period for the brand and for our customers in Australia.”

The FT-86 II Concept is the clearest indication yet of the final design for Toyota’s next sports car, which is expected in Australia in mid-2012.

The Prius c Concept is the inspiration for an urban-friendly car aimed at young singles and couples who want a vehicle that is fun to drive, while being more affordable and having even better fuel economy than a Prius.

At the other end of the spectrum, Prius v is designed for young families with active lifestyles as well as fleet customers looking for a car with added space and flexibility plus exceptional fuel economy.

Next-generation Yaris hatch has been completely redesigned with a more expressive, Euro-inspired look plus an even more spacious interior.

An upgraded HiLux has new bodywork designed to ensure it will continue to dominate Australia’s ute landscape. New HiLux arrives from September.

Toyota has also chosen the motor show to announce the renewal of its sponsorship agreement as Premier Partner of the AFL for a further three years, reinforcing Toyota’s long-term commitment to the game at all levels.

They are milking this concept. I expect little to no new I formation about the car itself. Just the recycled stuff Toyota has spit out since the debut.

When did they add the Fender vents? Not sure if I like them. Looks like the vents on a cadillac.

The FT-86 II Concept has been around for quite some time now. Nothing about it has changed, fender vents included.

I don't remember the fender vents either but I will take your word for it. I doubt they will make it to production.

Yup. When the II concept was first revealed, the fender vents were one the things that many people complained about. They were saying it was too much like the M3 and made the car look too busy (along with the LED strips up front). Nobody felt those would make it to production.

I still love the II concept because of the overall shape. The hood and wheel arches are badass. Looks like they'd fit big tires in there.
