My goal is to make this car as close to the concept model as possible. I expect the production to have some changes but I hope the concept's aero and wheels are available quickly.

I'm going to castrate someone with a toaster if it comes out as a Scion. Toyota needs to get their shit together and sell it as a Toyota. Plus, nobody's going to buy a Scion who's over 25. I'd expect a turbo for 25,000, and if I'm paying that much, why wouldn't I buy a 240 or a WRX?

    Unhappy

I'm so *thrilled* that everyone on this forum is so disappointed with the proposed outcome of this car. No wonder why Scion is failing as a brand, because Toyota doesn't know how to LISTEN to what their enthusiasts WANT! The price keeps getting higher, the horsepower output lower, and the weight heavier. Then the Scion bomb dropped? Nails on the coffin.

All they're making is another overpriced, underpowered hairdresser-mobile that will likely be dominated with automatic transmissions and LED-illuminated cupholders. What's going on, did the Scion bigwigs kidnap Akio Toyoda and stuff him in a burlap sack somewhere? How is he OK with this? How is anyone at Toyota USA OK with this?? Sure the people in the rest of the world will get a Toyota, but if any one of us buys one, we get grouped in with the stupid hipsters (Toyota calls them "Gen-Y Trendsetters") who don't know an intake valve from an Iggy Pop album. I just don't get it; Toyota has racing heritage and a long history of proper sports cars. Then just when we thought we had a glimmer of hope in the FT-86, Toyota decides to sackwhack every one of us.

F**K this, I'm buying an S2000. At least that hairdresser-mobile comes with a Club Racer package!

My thoughts EXACTLY on the WRX. Not only that, but you have AWD for all weather conditions.

Is there any hope that this thing still comes out as a Toyota or Subaru? Or is this thing dead?

just remember the s2000 is higher priced and still underpowered. F* 240 hp if you only got 160 tq, even 180 tq. that is why a turbo model or option is a must unless they can get the car under 2600 lbs. it's all about power to weight. myself, i'd rather see it lighter and cheaper. no leather, no power anything, hardtop/ultra light sunroof and keep a descent stereo. they need something like the MR package for the evo. turbo, yes please, six speed, check, wheel options (not a nasty $2k bs deal, should take off the price of factory rims!), LSD and please give me a good cup holder (sw20 reference). if i could get all that for less than 26K, where do i sign? oh, there should be turbo sizing options. that would be sweet!

why buy this as a subie awd? just but the wrx. it won't be as light and the engine/tires would have to be more rearward. that makes distribution worse and add more parasitic drag for being awd. although awd for bad weather is nice. maybe a sweet 40f/60r > 10f/90r distribution setup? but then there goes up the price and complexity.

I think they got the body style right! Forget that tc body on the car it is definately nicer than that!

The marketing "guru's" still dominate at Toyota which is why the US/Canada version will be a Scion. Learn to live with it lads. The driving purist / traditonalist may still have to look elsewhere. I hope that Lotus works on the suspension tuning of this car, it 'has' to be fun to drive right out of the box.
