Post Toyota FT-86 II Debuts at Fuji 86 Style Event in Japan w Tsuchiya

Recently the Toyota FT-86 II Concept made its Japanese debut at the Fuji 86 Style event, a day in honoring the Hachiroku in Japan. Drift King Keiichi Tsuchiya paid a visit and reflected his pas experiences with his beloved AE86 and his thoughts on the upcoming Toyota FT-86 / Scion FR-S concepts set to release mid 2012.

No new details were provided at the event, however Hachiroku fans in Japan had their first chance to view the concept car since the original FT-86 concept debuted at several events in Japan in 2010. Rumor is the production model will debut in Japan at the Japan Auto Show on December 3rd 2011.

This debut is most likely the best picture we have for a final design.. except for the leds on the front bumper, this is what we are going to get very sexy... i hope they put those rims on!

Just a bad joke. If you want more bangs, just get then off the street corner.

On serious note, I totally agree with you. I will wait for Subie version because
    1) It comes to US later and just for comparison purpose. Less buyer's remorse.
    2) Just like your posts in engine config, if they come out with turbo option, later, you will not be the guy looks stupid with the weak @$$ version and eating dust.

    Wax on, wax off.

I was just thinking that. I wish my car could be HALF as shiny.

Yeah, my mr2 has a pealing clear coat, so it looks matte red. F'n nasty. If I wax it good, it looks fine. That car almost looks mirror finish. I wonder what paint and then wax they are using. Cause you know that sucker is slicked up!

    Your welcome. LOL.

It's still way more aggressive for a production car. The mule that has been running around doesn't look exactly like that. Plus that rear fascia with the splitter is nowhere near what the production version is going to be.

I wish it looked more like this than the mule. The mule looked weak. This concept looks very sharp.

The mule had a lot covered up. It still had a lot of aggressive lines hidden underneath.

Great photos, fantastic to finally see it outdoors and next to real people to get a feel for the 'size'. The mule in the 'Ring' photos may not have been the final shape given that front and rear bumpers and relatively easy to design different versions of, and then fit them to the final car. So looking forward to the Tokyo Motor Show debut on December 02. Who is going, and providing a live feed to the inter-web for the rest of us plebs?!?

I think this car is the most anticipated car for a long time. I think almost all car enthusiast out there are looking forward to this.

The most recent cars I can remember that people were waiting on were the 350z, s2000, pontiac solstice (flop), camero, GT-R and then the LFA. Among all of those, this could be the biggest game changer, if they go FI. This could be the next silvia, which, in japan and elsewhere raced in all kinds of series and did very well. Or this could be the next 240sx, which sucked.....

Seriously though, remove the wing, the funky leds (add a small round led fog in the grill) and the fender grill and you have a sexy, aggressive body. Couple that with a 2.0/2.5L turbo with 220+ hp and 190+ tq at ~$25-28k and you have a car that every buyer of a genesis, camero, mustang or any sporty car, will want to test drive at the least. For $23-25k for this with a 200 hp and only 150 tq, you have a sexy car body and that's it. People test drive it and they will be like, ehh. I'll buy the 300hp v6 mustang. Especially since from what that clear subie techno car shows that this car is really a front engine, it's not that special.
