Exclamation Toyota/Scion FT-86 II Concept: Redesign Preview for Geneva Autoshow Re-Debut

Official news from Toyota Europe today. The revised version of the beloved FT-86 concept has an official teaser in light of its debut at the 2011 Geneva International Autoshow "re"-debut. We said changes were coming, now its about time to see those changes.

Remember the front end was reported "too low for production" at last years Geneva Autoshow, and recently the reports of Scions release would end up having influence on the re-design. In the teaser picture both appears to be the case, the entire front end has been "refreshed". Lets hold our breath and hope for the best.

FT-86 II concept: New Toyota concept to hint at next sports car

The 2011 Geneva motor show will mark the premiere of a new evolution of the FT-86 sports concept vehicle presented for the first time at the 2009 Tokyo motor show.

The FT-86 II concept will give the clearest indication yet of the final design for Toyota's next sports car. With over 50 year-long history of creating exciting sports cars, this new concept embodies Toyota's reborn passion for sports car.

Interesting. That front bumper mesh would be the perfect place for a FMIC.

If those dark areas above the headlights are not shadows but actually vents, it would remind me of a 458 Italia. I know it's a stretch. Just rotate the inner/narrower portions of the headlights towards the fender, widen the front grille, and there you have it. LOL!

Its hiding a retractable T-top roof like the FT-HS protoype! Or even a converible!

    *wishful thinking.

T-tops would be nice so long as they keep the frame as solid as a standard model.

    I miss my Z32

No, not T-Tops. They always leak after a few years, and reduce the chassis rigidity as well as put weight at the highest point, negating the whole reason for having a H4 design.

Well, damn you for reminding me that for this car, they would not fit the bill. Still like t-tops for the "right" car...

I find it interesting that they are still referring to this re-design as a concept....

If this thing were a convertable only, I wouldn't even go to the dealership to look at it.

to make it a proper sports car and keep with the low center of gravity idea, the car has to be a hard top.

i think you can see too much of the hood and i don't see any shapes of a scoop. imo, it's much more sleek without one. FMIC please.

i also see the resemblance of the tC in it. i like the red version they showed better, IMO. i guess we'll have to wait 5 weeks for more info.

where's the subaru???? i want more pics please.

Isn't that the FT-HS concept that's supposed to be the Supra replacement?
