Rumor: Toyota FT-86 4-Door Sedan in the Works
Sep 03, 2010 - 7:54 AM - by West
Carsguide.com.au is reporting they received a tip from a "source close to Toyota" about the possibility of a Toyota FT-86 4-door sedan. The move is likely driven due to the success of the Toyota Altezza or Lexus IS. Its not a bad move to offer the standard 2+2 along with a sedan. The last source we had from Australia was regarding Subaru's objection of using RWD. Depending on the platform originally selected from Toyota / Subaru it shouldn't be difficult to work in a sedan model. Whether you like 2+2 or Sedan, the move would no doubt increase sales for an already highly anticipated model.

THERE is more to Toyota's youth-driven FT-86 project than people first thought.

The born-again Sprinter is definitely a coupe and now there will be a four-door sedan for Toyota showrooms. Even though sedans are not popular in Japan - with the exception of the car sold as the Lexus IS200 and Toyota Altezza - Toyota can see serious potential in a global car from the FT-86.

The loyal Altezza customers are one reason why, according to a source close to Toyota, the sedan has been given the go-ahead. It

Subaru's 216a STi FT-86 Variant Spied Testing in US Southwest
Sep 01, 2010 - 7:38 AM - by West
The Subaru FT-86 commonly known as the 216a STi has been spotted in the US Southwest, the last spotting was in Orange County California many months ago. Although this time it has the added hood scoop for Subaru's signature STi top mount intercooler. Could we be seeing a STi form of the 216a / Subaru 216a?

Toyota Plans to Add More Fun to Lineup

This sent in by fellow member williamt2, thanks!

It's a lengthy read thanks to its business website source, but some good insight to the direction ahead thanks to Mr Toyoda "Morizo". It taps on various plans ahead such as the LF-A acceptance in the market, old school model recap, and also mentions an FT-86 release date of next year, get your checkbooks ready!

TOKYO (Bloomberg) -- Maurizio Raffone bought a Toyota Motor Corp. Prius hybrid for its top-of-the-line fuel efficiency. In his current search for a new sportscar, he said the Japanese carmaker hadn’t sprung to mind.

“Would I consider buying a Toyota high-end sports car?” said Raffone, a London-based director at Commerzbank AG. “I might think about it, but ultimately I’d choose something with a trident, a prancing horse or a bull on its hood,” he said, referring to cars made by Fiat S.p.A.’s Maserati and Ferrari marques, and Volkswagen AG’s Lamborghini.

As the world’s largest carmaker tries to rebuild its reputation for quality following record recalls, President Akio Toyoda, a racing fan, has said he wants to add more fun to his cars. Under Toyoda, who became president in June 2009, the company has taken orders for the Lexus LFA $375,000 supercar, is readying an “affordable” rear-wheel drive coupe and may even add a sporty version of the Prius.

“Cars like the LFA are brand-builders in the overall product portfolio,” said Ashvin Chotai,

Toyota FT-86 Concept Car at paris showroom
Aug 26, 2010 - 2:01 AM - by Raiden
Here is a video one of our members kindly sent us. It shows the Toyota FT-86 concept being displayed at the Le Rendez-Vous Toyota showroom in the heart of Paris (located on the Champs-Elysees Avenue). The Paris motor show is right around the corner (first week of October) so perhaps the concept will be making an appearance (along with additional info hopefully).

For those of you who have not had the chance to see this showroom before, it's a beautiful showroom located in a very heavily trafficked area of the Champs Elysees area with tons of locals and tourists passing at any given time.

This is some great exposure for the FT-86 in our opinion and it's good to see the concept car making its way around the world!

Subaru's Side of the FT-86 (New Images) 216a Variant
Aug 23, 2010 - 8:12 PM - by West
EDIT: See my post below, it contains a Animated comparison of the original FT-86 image.

Its been rather slow in terms of new FT-86 news, just a bunch of rehashed Subaru 086a / 216a news, which is getting a bit out of hand considering its original source of the information. However I found some interesting images form TopSpeed, or their designers, maybe even someone from the FT-86 community. Either way I thought I would share! The news is less than interesting if you have remained diligent in our news section.
